The perfect brewing temperature for Kombucha is 22-27°C 19-20°C is at the low end of ideal brewing. 10-18°C this range causes very slow fermentation with weak or yeasty flavours and the possibility of mould.
If you find your brew sitting below 20°C I would recommend helping your Scoby with some external heat.
This adjustable 7 Watt heating mat can increase your brew by few degrees (about 3-4°C above your room temperature) depending on the ambient temperature and the brew size. Just place your brew on top of your Heat Mat.
Features: Heat Mat distributes Heat evenly Extra thin design with maximum flexibility. Their shape sees a greater concentration of heat in a more defined location.

only criticism I have is that there are no real markings to show on or off.
Trial and error to figure out when it clicks if off or on high.
I used a permanent marker to show preferred setting.
Flexible enough to wrap around the jar if needed but I use it on an insulated placemat (flat)
Works very well in my cold climate.
Made such a difference for ferment time of my Kombucha, and even managed a fizzy F1.
I have a 4L jar from Karl so I can even fit a couple of my F2 bottles on the end of the mat to give them a headstart before I refrigerate them.
Works very well. The temperature increased to around 23/24 degrees.
it is a pleasant and easy experience dealing with karl............ i'll be back
So glad I purchased the heating pad with my starter kit. Without it, I imagine brewing would be difficult during Tassie's winter.
The mat heats quite gently and, at only 7W, won't use too much power. It may take a while to get my 8L container up to brewing temperature, and then I can play with the heat control to keep it steady.
I just wish we could lose the EU plug+AU adapter. Although it seems to be OK as it is, even a Chinese plug (upside down AU) could make it more stable in the power point.
The heat mat makes kombucha taste fantastic. It makes it really bubbly.
A must have in colder winter climates like mine!
This is great for keeping the brew warm. However I found I also needed to wrap a towel around the jar to keep it warm enough.
Quick delivery. A Godsend for my Scoby in the middle of winter.
Great purchase and reasonably priced. The item was delivered very quickly and was well wrapped. I'd definitely recommend this seller.
Great product. Easier than the wrap, I was using, (which I got an electric shock off)
Item supplied as described in good working order with no problems.
Just added a heat mat to my set up and wow. Within 24 hours things changed. Just bottled and flavoured my 1st batch and brewing my 2nd
As a first time brewer the process was so easy. I have had no failures and have and have just received my second 8l jar. very happy. taste delicious
Very happy with the heat mat, however the power connection is quite loose and has to be watched carefully in case it falls out.
Great product. Instructions very clear.
Products are of excellent quality, service was prompt and efficient, prices very reasonable.
This is the perfect heating pad for my brew. Love this company for its personal service and great products. Simply everything you need for making your own Kombucha.
We have decanted 2 ltrs. 4 times since purchasing the 8 ltr. kit and all is working very well. We add some fresh ginger and lemon juice to the decanted liquid and let rest for 3-4 days, the taste is terrific.
We have just received the heating mat so that will make the system easier to use.
Thank you for your product and your service.
Cheers Geoff & Eva.
